Classes start at 9am and end around 5pm.
In my opinion every horse owner should know as much as they can about caring for their horse’s hooves. I love it that some of you are doing small adjustments on your horses already!
This is a great place to get a foundation. The Beginner class starts with an anatomy review. Everyone will get a cadaver hoof, you will take before pictures before we start. Everyone will be able to compare their hoof to the other hooves in class. Then step by step we will discuss what we are going to trim, how and why. We will mark up the hoof and draw it out so we know where all the internal structures are. After we have done that, we will trim the hooves, still under guidance, focusing on safety and proper tool handling. After you are done trimming and get the final ok you can take your after pictures.
After the students have taken their after pictures, they will be given the opportunity to explore their hoof, to identify vital structures and the perimeters of which one must stay to achieve optimal soundness.
We will finish with a dissection to further explore the anatomy of the distal limb.
The ETEH Handbook is highly suggested for this class.
